While talking to unbelievers they sometimes get upset that you “aren’t making room for their beliefs” they say things like “that is what you believe but what if…” or “that is your truth”
Truth cannot differ between people. It’s either true or it is false.
I understand the journey of what ifs but there comes a point hopefully where you stand on a firm ground of absolute. That can only be found in God’s absolutes. That truth is what he says.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Truth matters and it doesn’t change.
Being the supreme. The creator. The almighty and all powerful. The one who knows the beginning from the end and sustains all things, he is the only one who has the right to give out the rules. The only one who can truly make the oughts and ought nots. He is the one who knows better than anyone.
I try really hard when having these discussions to let these people know that I love them and I care about the discussion. That I will make room for them and their ifs, but only to the point of “that is where they are searching.” “That is where they are.” At the same time however, I cannot act as if it is valid or true. I can watch them go down the road. I can offer what I know to be true. I can stick my hand out for support but I can’t validate or affirm them or accept what they say as “an option.”
That is the Love that we ought to be showing people. The Love of Christ that speaks truth without wavering. Calls people out of darkness. Does not bend or break under pressure and yet boldly declares all have sinned and fall short of Gods glory. None are righteous and able to save themselves yet all are called to redemption. He wants no one to perish. No one is too far gone. Repent, believe and be saved.
