This is a tattoo I have thought a lot about getting. No this isn’t me and I don’t have this tattoo.
This is the contrast between the inner voice and the veneer that others see so often. This goes for believers and unbelievers alike.
The world says you are fine. You have all that you need inside yourself but inside you know better. Therefore people ask us how we are doing and we say fine though inside we are screaming for someone to save us. It just makes things worse doesn’t it? To be told that you are enough and you can do all the things without help….
It makes you wonder why you don’t have it all together like everyone else. Why you struggle so much when the people around you seem to just do life without issue.
It makes you feel less than and even more of a failure, but guess what? You aren’t enough and that is ok.
You weren’t made to be enough. You were made to glorify God and enjoy him forever and in doing that lean on him for complete dependency.
““For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
He is our enough. He is our good and our help. He is our provider and our constant. Our hope and our savior. He is my God, my Lord and my salvation.
When we view ourselves through the lens the world puts on us it tries to prop us up and make us more than we are, which actually demolishes our self esteem and hope. When we see that we don’t have to have it all together all the time, be strong enough, or “able.” We can then look to the only one who can be all of the things and more. We can lean on him. We can ask for help. We can know that God is completely in control and we aren’t and give up trying to be god when we are simple creations who need our creator.
Be blessed my friends and remember to keep your eyes on Jesus and nothing else.
