God’s Love

Howdy. Leafiore here.

Just getting on today to talk to you guys about Gods love. I know I have done a podcast on this in the past on Truthfully Awkward but we can’t get all the things into one podcast when we talk about such a big subject. I have been really sitting in different topics lately and praying that the Lord shapes me into who he wants me to be. And while I do that I just keep thinking how amazing Gods love is. His love is both completely inclusive and so very exclusive at the same time. There are choices that we make in order to decide which side of the fence we fall on. As I’m sure you already know

But 18-21 says

‭‭

This shows what looks like a dichotomy. God so loves the world. The world is the people who are sinners and enemies of God. He loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The word “believes” is an interesting word. I always had a hard time with that like well it says believes and even the demons believe. people say it means more than that so what does it really mean?

“BELIE’VE, v.t. To credit upon the authority or testimony of another; to be persuaded of the truth of something upon the declaration of another, or upon evidence furnished by reasons, arguments, and deductions of the mind, or by other circumstances, than personal knowledge. When we believe upon the authority of another, we always put confidence in his veracity. “

When we believe upon the authority of reasoning, arguments, or a concurrence of facts and circumstances, we rest our conclusions upon their strength or probability, their agreement with our own experience. 2. To expect or hope with confidence; to trust.

So to believe is not just like blind faith. And it isn’t just yeah I think it’s true. It is putting trust in agreeing with and knowing it’s true and to be trusted. When Jesus came it was to save us. To give every man an equal opportunity at salvation. No matter who you are. The whole world has a chance at salvation we just have to put our trust in Jesus and believe him. Follow him. The second part is equally as important though. It says if you put your trust in Jesus you will not be judged. Why? Because when we believe and make Jesus the Lord of our life. When we trust him in what he says and who he is we are clothed with his righteousness. How amazing is Gods love for us that if we put our belief in him he will cloth us in his goodness?

So when we go to heaven and stand before God he will see righteousness that isn’t our own. Something so much more perfect than we could ever accomplish. Unfortunately so many people love their darkness and their own self love more than the love of God. More than his provisions. They want to be their own god.

This is so sad because we make terrible gods. We can never satisfy ourselves. We can never comfort ourselves with a comfort that is really satisfying and we always want more, bigger and grander to try and fill that hole that we can’t fill on our own. The god of self is well…. selfish.

When it says that everyone who does evil hates the light it just reminds me that people who don’t want God hate him and what he stands for. That means they hate us and what we stand for IF we stand for what God says. The Bible says that God is our shepherd and we are sheep. Sheep are pretty helpless and tend to wander off and get themselves in trouble. They are easy Pickens for wolves and such but with a shepherd who loves us he can guide us down the safe path and help keep us from trouble. That does however mean knowing what he says and applying it. We are called to know him and what he says and to keep it safe from the wolves. ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:8-14‬ ‭Says

God loves us so much that he became our sacrifice so that we can be reconciled to him. He loves us so much that he did it while we still hated him and sinned against him. It’s crazy to me how God can both hate the sinner and love the sinner at the same time. The fact that he can abhorre what is evil and still provide for a way for us to turn from that evil is just astounding. The fact that he says to love our enemies is just as small glimpse of his love for us while we were still his enemies. This is selfless love. Not self seeking. It’s self sacrificing. Literally.

As believers we need to be in the word and know what he says and why he says it. So we can share the good news to anyone who asks what our hope is and where it is found. We should guard his words carefully and make sure that they are not twisted or perverted. They are a treasure that must be well treasured. Thanks for listening y’all. Until next time! See ya!
